Appreciation

Think back to a time when you received gratitude from someone. Remember that feeling? Now think of a time when you've expressed gratitude to someone. Remember that feeling? It's pretty similar, right? Both instances have the power to excite happiness, contentment, and fulfillment; to spread a sense of peace.

Having an attitude of appreciation and the ability to give and receive gratitude freely has the power to change your life, as well as those around you. Imagine a world where we can all appreciate each other- our differences, our similarities, and everything in between.

How can you spread some peace through appreciation today?

Healing - The Art of the Butterfly

Today is Learn about Butterflies Day! Did you know that it can take approximately 10-14 days for a caterpillar to transform into a butterfly, depending on the time of the year. During it's time in it's chrysalis it basically dissolves itself and recreates itself into a butterfly! How amazing is that! It's almost like a real life phoenix, recreating itself from it's own hypothetical ashes!

Healing can be a very painful process. Like the caterpillar, sometimes we have to tear ourselves apart a bit to put ourselves back together in a stronger, more beautiful, way. However, if we surround ourselves with supportive friends and family, like the chrysalis of a caterpillar, their love will give us the strength we need to heal through those difficult times. It's not easy but if you don't take the opportunity to grow, you may never see how truly beautiful your wings can be.

Diversity

Diversity is defined as the condition of being diverse, or being composed of distinct or unlike elements or qualities. It's no secret that our planet is blessed with a multitude of peoples, cultures, landscapes, and ways of thinking. That's what makes our world, and humanity so rich!
Tabibu Africa's logo of the acacia tree made of many different sizes and colors of hands celebrates our diversity and it's beauty. All of our hands may come from different walks of life we are all capable of making a difference in our world!

After all...they say that variety is the spice of life, and we at Tabibu Africa couldn't agree more!

Humility

Tabibu Africa prides itself on it's humanitarian work, and we feel truly blessed to be able to help in the little ways we do. By our helping we are humbled with the spirit, generosity, and zest for life that abounds in the populations we serve. It is inspiring and encouraging, it is what brings us back for more.  Thank you for the opportunity to serve and for teaching us how to truly live. We are eternally grateful. Asante Sana.

Kindness

Kindness means to give freely of yourself in order to show support and love. It can be directed toward loved ones, friends, acquaintances, or strangers. While we go to different lengths to express kindness, typically based on our level of intimacy, holding a door for a stranger or smiling at a passerby on the street can have a much bigger impact than we may ever know. As Aesop states no act of kindness is too small, and that one seemingly simple act may send out ripples of happiness for unimaginable distances.

How far will you go for kindness today?

Love

Love. There are many definitions of the word and each has the ability to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. That, I believe, is why it is such a powerful word. It can tear people apart and bring people together, it can unite and bind, it can even heal wounds of the heart and soul.

One such definition of the word is as follows: an affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests. I believe that is the most true definition of how Tabibu Africa Inc. wants to share love. We hope to inspire bonds and create friendships, heal wounds and bring communities together...one smile, one helping hand at a time.

Compassion

Compassion (noun): sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.

So, compassion could be looked at as essentially the sensing or feeling of another individuals pain and sharing in that pain; ultimately in the hopes of lessening the burden or suffering for others. Compassion can come in many varying forms and degrees; from a listening ear or shoulder to cry on to speaking out, advocating for others who have less of a voice. From a simple smile to a letter to kind words...compassion is everywhere and no amount is "too little".

Too often in the world today do we hear stories of fear, hatred, and violence; indeed they spread like wildfire. However, just as often- if not more- there are stories of love, compassion, and peace. They just don't tend to travel quite as fast, nor as far. Let's change that! What acts of compassion, big and small, have you all witnessed or performed recently? Remember we all have the ability to impact the lives of those around us, near and far. We all are little hands making big differences.
